Opal

One of the main characteristics of opal is that it displays flashes of colour (iridescence) as it is moved, including red, green, blue, orange, yellow etc. Opals can be sub-divided into 'white opal' and black opal' depending on the background colour to the flashes of iridescence. However there is also a form called 'fire opal' and this is transparent and orange in colour.
